The DVR detects installed hard disk drives

automatically. Any hard disk drive can be defined

to be a normal recording drive (REC drive) or a

backup drive (BACKUP). Highlight a desired drive

and then select the function for the hard disk drive

by pressing the + or – button.

Highlight EXTERNAL, and then press the ENTER

button to access the list of hard disk drives in the

expansion bay, VT-XHD-10U.

The hard disk drives will be automatically detected

just as in the main DVR HDD bays. If any hard

disk drives are installed, then highlight the desired

hard disk drive and then select the function by

pressing the + or – button. All hard drives in the

expansion bays are set to REC by default.

6.5.1.2 Rec HDD initialize

The hard disk drives set for normal recording can

be initialized at any time by accessing this menu.

Highlight REC HDD INITIALIZE and then press the

ENTER button to access the initialization screen.

Select YES and then press the ENTER button to

initialize the hard disk drives. Initialization is

instantaneous. Select NO to return to the previous

menu screen.
